SOUND FAMILIAR?

When your HVAC breaks down, everything stops

A broken AC in July or a dead furnace in January is not just uncomfortable — it costs you money, productivity, and peace of mind.

No cooling in a heatwave

It is 95 degrees outside, your system is blowing warm air, and every hour without AC means lost customers or miserable employees

Strange noises and smells

Grinding, banging, burning smell — your system is warning you. Ignoring it turns a $300 repair into a $5,000 replacement

Bills doubled but comfort halved

Your system runs non-stop but never reaches the set temperature. Short-cycling and refrigerant leaks are silently draining your wallet

Another company could not fix it

You have already paid for a diagnostic that led nowhere. Generic technicians guess — our factory-trained engineers pinpoint the problem

FAQ

Questions We Hear Every Day

Honest answers from licensed HVAC technicians.

How much does HVAC repair cost depends on the failure: a capacitor swap or refrigerant top-off typically runs $150–$350, while a compressor replacement on a rooftop split can reach $1,200–$2,500. Labor rates in the five boroughs tend to be 20–30% higher than national averages. Diagnosing the root cause before pricing anything is always the right first step.

What is HVAC repair? It's the process of diagnosing and correcting a mechanical, electrical, or refrigerant failure in a heating or cooling system. For an AC unit, that might mean replacing a failed contactor, recharging refrigerant to manufacturer spec, clearing a blocked condensate line, or repairing a burnt blower motor — whatever is keeping the system from conditioning air properly.

HVAC blowing cold air when heat is on usually points to one of a few things: a tripped limit switch from overheating, a failed ignitor or flame sensor on a gas furnace, or a heat pump stuck in cooling mode due to a faulty reversing valve. On older NYC buildings with steam or hot-water heat, a stuck zone valve or failed circulator pump is the more likely culprit.

Knowing how to test HVAC blower motor with multimeter correctly saves time: set the meter to AC voltage and confirm 120V or 240V at the motor terminals, then switch to resistance mode and check each winding. A healthy winding reads a few ohms; open reads OL; shorted reads near zero. Also check the run capacitor — a degraded cap mimics a failed motor and costs far less to replace.

Why is my HVAC not cooling is one of the most common calls in summer. Low refrigerant charge (often from a slow leak), a dirty condenser coil blocking heat rejection, or a frozen evaporator coil from restricted airflow are the top three causes. A rooftop packaged unit in direct Manhattan sun can also short-cycle if the high-pressure switch trips repeatedly. Start by checking the air filter.
